What if we had One Auxiliary World Language??

As one of its social principles, the Bahá’í faith teaches that an auxiliary world language should be selected by the representatives of all the world's nations.

“Language follows its own path. It can bridge gulfs of class and geography in
the most remarkable ways.”
[1]

Would an auxiliary world language be the solution to many of the afflictions in which lays the society of today?
Could such an instrument enhance and implement the progress that a new civilization would bear once the lack of direct communication and the resulting misunderstanding would be leveled?
The answer to those questions is certainly “Yes!”
How many languages and dialect will be abandoned and die in this process we do not know. It can be argued that selecting an auxiliary world language above the others, could help preserve the traditional languages of each culture and sub-culture, provoking in a short period of time the whole world to shift from a monolingual education into a bilingual; as already prophesized by Graddol, but not yet widely realized.
If this could be prompted in the education system of every nation, in two or three generations we would see the effects. The possible scenario could be that of an environment where the study and use of the English Language, channelled into specific domains of the daily interaction, would run parallel to that of the mother language even to a regional dialect, maybe a city's slang too. The vernacular language of a region or country, the native dialect and the English Language would then coexist everywhere.
That an auxiliary world language should be selected by the representatives of all the world's nations is an undeniable resolution, which the governments have to take for the betterment of the conditions of the present world. English Language has demonstrated to be the auxiliary world language more than just in a mere potentiality. It is already used, though unconsciously by its speakers, in such a way. What will enhance its position and release its powers in the future could only be the possible recognition by a council in majority of governments to adopt it as official instrument to free the world; freeing it from the hindrance that keeps humanity aback from communicate effectively between peoples of different nations. It can be argued that this recognition would lack of impartiality; that choosing English over other system of communication requires defining a standard; that Chinese speakers are still superior in number to English speakers; that the language of the future could be invented today or tomorrow; and many numerous other objections of this kind. If just for one moment we could step out of the confusion and objectively consider that what humanity really need is not a refined perfect system to express them selves, because this role is already impeccably occupied by the infinite number of tongues; which have been developed so beautifully since the dawn in which the first speech has been uttered. Everyday this diversity permits to every speaker to express the endless range of thoughts that are generated by every single mind, it makes mankind the only creature in the condition to dominate the world of existence by claiming the ownership with a simple action: to name everything they discover; amplifying every kind of dominion that could possibly be considered in the abstract or concrete form. What the future civilization, the next offspring that will inherit this planet would need is an auxiliary language, that would cover the lack that the world’s variety has produced and be a bridge connector to develop new patterns towards the rise of further latent conquests. For such a role English Language is already giving its silent contribution. As history has taught, once it will be taken seriously in consideration it will start to change and mutate at a higher speed rate, according to the necessity of an even smaller world of that in which we live in today. Since the one emerging now it is not a new born idiom, but a foetus still developing its features and organs. Eventually it will be delivered widely through a more organized and structured education’s system, and then every new generation, from that turning point on, will add its own to the refinement of the English Auxiliary World Language.

love this song!! ---> a human being, an eternal wanderer!

HUMAN

I did my best to notice
when the call came down the line
up to the platform of surrender
I was brought but I was kind
and sometimes I get nervous
when I see an open door
close your eyes, clear your heart
cut the cord

are we human or are we denser
my sign is vital, my hands are cold
and I’m on my knees looking for the answer
are we human or are we denser
pay my respects to grace and virtues

end my condolences to good
give my regards to soul and romance
they always did the best they could
and so long to devotion,
you taught me everything I know
wave good bye, wish me well
you gotta let me go

are we human or are we denser
my sign is vital, my hands are cold
and I’m on my knees looking for the answer
are we human or are we denser
will your system be alright

when you dream of home tonight
there is no message we're receiving
let me know is your heart still beating
are we human or are we denser

my sign is vital, my hands are cold
and I’m on my knees looking for the answer
you’ve gotta let me know

are we human or are we denser
my sign is vital, my hands are cold
and I’m on my knees looking for the answer
are we human or are we denser

The Killers

O MAN OF TWO VISIONS!

Close one eye and open the other.

Close one to the world and all that is therein,

and open the other to the hallowed beauty of the Beloved.

I'm both... a human and denser!!
We all are... denser means we are more than what we seem... well, we certainly are!!
This material world is only one (not even the first, as we could consider the womb of the mother as a world)... only one of the infinite worlds in which our soul happens to experience, to gain consciousness of its existence and its purpose; where it has the chance to develop itself... here starts our journey.... which has no end!
A journey within ourself, within the universe, bound forever to our dearly loved ones and to all the other humans that cross our path and are on their way too! A journey to discover our potentials, to develop them and use for the benefit of all!
O Son of Spirit!
Burst thy cage asunder, and even as the phonix of love
soar into the firmament of holiness.
Renounce thyself and, filled with the spirit of mercy,
abide in the realm of celestial sanctity.
O Offspring of Dust!
Be not content with the ease of a passing day,
and deprive not thyself of everlasting rest.
Barter not the garden of eternal delight
for the dust-heap of a mortal world.
Up from thy prison ascend
unto the glorious meads above,
and from thy mortal cage wing thy flight
unto the paradise of the Placeless.
These Hidden Words of Baha'u'llah have a great power on me, making me realize that whatever our experience in this world could be (long 90 years or short as a flinch, filled with happiness or sorrow), we are destinated to something far greater... an eternal existence seeking to know and worship our Creator.
O FRIENDS!
Abandon not the everlasting beauty for a beauty that must die,
and set not your affections on this mortal world of dust.
O SON OF DUST!
Blind thine eyes, that thou mayest behold My beauty;
stop thine ears, that thou mayest hearken unto the sweet melody of My voice;
empty thyself of all learning, that thou mayest partake of My knowledge;
and sanctify thyself from riches, that thou mayest obtain a lasting share
from the ocean of My eternal wealth.
Blind thine eyes, that is, to all save My beauty;
stop thine ears to all save My word;
empty thyself of all learning save the knowledge of Me;
that with a clear vision, a pure heart and an attentive ear
thou mayest enter the court of My holiness.

BECOME AN INDIPENDENT LEARNER AN INDIPENDENT THINKER

My first week of lessons is almost gone and what have been the highlights of it are some very deep concept that I would like to share with you...

  • become an indipendent learner, an indipendent thinker

---->this is what one would be when using his own brain/perceptions/creativity... in one word TALENTS...

Its' simply to say, much harder to put in practice... I was bred with the sacred-cornerstone-principle of the Baha'i Faith which says everyone of us should carry out his own:

FREE & INDIPENDENT SEARCH OF TRUTH

In other words that is:

O SON OF SPIRIT!

The best beloved of all things in My sight is Justice; turn not away therefrom if thou desirest Me, and neglect it not that I may confide in thee. By its aid thou shalt see with thine own eyes and not through the eyes of others, and shalt know of thine own knowledge and not through the knowledge of thy neighbor. Ponder this in thy heart; how it behooveth thee to be. Verily justice is My gift to thee and the sign of My loving-kindness. Set it then before thine eyes.

this is how it works...

In other words---> "To achieve something you never achieved before you have to do what you have never done yet!"

how do you find this??

Go fly your kite!!

Today was really a fine day.. one of those in which the sun is shining and everything looks good... nothing could perturbate your smile and difficulties find their way out smoothly, surprises pop up into your life and you feel like a child going out to fly his kite...

something I did indeed!!! Inaki & me organized a workshop on how to build a kite of your own... quite a feat, if you think that none of us had ever done it... we got infos on internet and went yesterday buying the material... we were sooooo lucky to meet a fine gentelman who spent his time giving us advices and teaching us the basis... it was really fun and the man was really sweet with us!! So today we encouraged some reluctant kids to join us in this crazy idea... our first attempt (made of wooden sticks of bamboo, a lot of glue, cord and blue fabric) was miserable, but we got an angel telling us what was missing (a tail with ribbons to keep the balance).. with some wind and luck we finally had our first home made kite flying.... an emotion deep satisfactory and pure happyness... I'll never forget this day!

Thank you Inaki for not giving up and keeping trying!!!

For the instructions about how to build a kite go on: http://www.skratch-pad.com/kites/make.html

For some advice or if you are going to fly your kite... call me!!

sooooo Glorious!!

Are we aware of the greatness of the Day in which we are living??
And this time I wont talk about what God has done to make it so special....
rather about where we are and what awaits us!

I love docus and my favourite tv programs, since I was a child, are: QUARK, GEO&GEO, ULISSE, etc (Italian programs on history, science, geography etc)... well, watching Ulisse's emission I realized that, though the future will be bright, amazing and unimaginable:
with opportunities to be in touch with form of lifes from other planet and even galaxies;
with the capacity to know and travel under the deepest ocean as if it were the ground we walk on every day;
with the chance to live healthy-long-happy lifes, in peace with every single man & woman and every form of life on this planet, being able to communicate with an auxiliary language common to all, a free economy, a fair trade... all because laws will be set and people will respect them, a world were JUSTICE is real;
with extraordinary technologies and ever-advancing fields to be discover...
THIS epoch, THIS era is the best moment to live in.... asking why?!
Hey... WE, US, are at the turning point to make ALL THIS happen!!
The bright future we will render our great-grand-grandchildren is up to us....

I'm not just positive saying it will be bright... history teaches us... we suffer and go through huge crises, undergo trhough periods of violence and almost reach the point to destroy everything... well we could even disappear... and at that point nothing else would matter... still I have HOPE and DESIRE and WISH that our generation will bring forward a better generation and that among the children we will educate will be those discoverers, scientists, great mind and souls that for the good of all will produce a golden civilization! Actually among us there are already people working in this sense with pure motives and purposes!! In the future we could be remembered as the fathjers and mothers that gave society a new shape, a new home striving to achieve high standards of morality and envisaging the world we are all called to build!

So the best moment to live in is NOW... as we can make the change, we can plant the seeds for such glorious times and fruits to be bear!!
EXCITING, UH?!

And it's all up to us........

community life

There must be a balance between sense and sensibility! What is a matter of concern to me to-day is that we all have a different pivot of measure for holding a balance between the two... this doesn't help much in certain cases in which you have to deal with people whose measure it's all on one or the other side!
sense ---O-- sensibility

So I faced something like this the other day and was reflecting on how this two qualities actually influence our daily life, in such a way that we do react... in a good / bad or even worse way....

"God hath never burdened any soul beyond its power"
(Baha'u'llah, Gleanings from the Writings of Baha'u'llah, p. 106)

So how do WE dare??? How could we measure others with our own scales and give a judgment?? Still, this is what we normally do.... what's worse we don't just judge, we keep the idea we have in our mind and freeze it... for as much as possible.... unless we train ourself in FLEXIBILITY GYM... (I would reccomend the humily tool)

"Beware that ye swell not with pride before God, and disdainfully reject His loved ones. Defer ye humbly to the faithful, they that have believed in God and in His signs, whose hearts witness to His unity, whose tongues proclaim His oneness, and who speak not except by His leave. Thus do We exhort you with justice, and warn you with truth, that perchance ye may be awakened. Lay not on any soul a load which ye would not wish to be laid upon you, and desire not for any one the things ye would not desire for yourselves. This is My best counsel unto you, did ye but observe it."
(Baha'u'llah, Gleanings from the Writings of Baha'u'llah, p. 126 LXVI)

Well, as I was hurt on my sensibility as my sense tells me that things should be going in a different way, I will not take the burden it was laid upon me... I can free my self... it's in my powers.... as among my powers is the capacity to put myself into someone else's shoes... and also the one to be able to recognize that I'm not exempt from making such mistakes too!!

Seems at the end there's some kind of balance.... or not??

Viva La Mamma

231. O Son of Generosity! Thou wert in the deserts of nonbeing and, by means of the earth of command, I made thee to appear in the world of possession. I charged all the atoms of dependence and the realities of creation with thy training, so that, before thou didst issue from the womb of thy mother, I ordained for thee two fountains of bright milk. I appointed eyes to guard thee, set thy love in all hearts, and with pure generosity I reared thee under the shadow of My Mercy, and protected thee with the essence of My Grace. The purpose of all this was to enable thee to arrive at Our Eternal Might and to deserve Our Invisible Favors.
(Compilations, Baha'i Scriptures, p. 178)

The conversation IS the relationship

“Sou maravilhosamente irresponsável no que vocês escutam, mas sou totalmente responsável do que eu digo”. ---> "I am amazingly unresponsible for what you hear, but I am totally responsible for what I say" Maturana

Talking with a friend 'bout communication's problems, he gave me the quote above to reflect on... and I totally agree with it, as it's clear to me, that what we hear depends on how we experience and understand the reality around us, while what we say depends on our capacity to express the reality we know..which doesn't mean the other will get what we are trying to convey, as:

a. we may not use the right terminology

b. we are thinking about something, saying the opposite, still our non-verbal communication expreses what we are really thinking

c. we haven't a clear idea on our mind and are talking for the pleasure of expressing ourself

d. we are talking about something we don't have a clue of.

Solutions respectively are:

a. use right words, as my brother says: "each word has its meaning, use it PROPERLY & WISELY!"

b. be honest & sincere

"We ask thee to ...be fair and just in thy speech, that perchance the splendors of the daystar of truthfulness and sincerity may shine forth, and may deliver thee from the darkness of ignorance, and illumine the world with the light of knowledge." (Baha'u'llah, Epistle to the Son of the Wolf, p. 10)
c. think before open the mouth to speak (a sacred rule!!) or stay in silence (usually, the best thing to do!)

d. talk only about things one knows, be humbe and state: "I'm sorry, don't know anything about this!"

COMMUNICATION IS AN ACT OF LOVE!

To engage someone in dialogue is to recognize the person, have faith in him/her. Every step taken in the struggle to build a better relationship, every level we try tirelessly to establish a dialogue, or reestablish it if it has broken down, we are indeed demonstrating how much we care and love. We woudn't even try othrewise! When we give up or keep inside what we feel cause we think the other wont understand or that we are incapable of conveying it clearly, we are destroying the relationship (among family members, friends, governments, society...) everything will fall apart, as it's already happening!

"The most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention…. A loving silence often has far more power to heal and to connect than the most well-intentioned words." Rachel N. Remen

I think God is the best listener!

I can tell this from my experience, He listens to us so carefully and completely that is the only One Who really answers... and His Mercy is in that, the answer He gives us is the best thing could ever suits us, not the one we think or want, 'cause indeed, we don't know what's the best for ourself, BUT GOD DOES! The problem is we are just too occupied with listening to ourself, and too often we don't even hear the reply!

Then, we should also learn to communicate with our own style... "see with thine own eyes and not through the eyes of others, and shalt know of thine own knowledge and not through the knowledge of thy neighbor." (Baha'u'llah, The Arabic Hidden Words, 2)

I know only One, whose communication style is perfect!

That is:

  • ORIGINAL ---> distinctive, new,

  • CHASTE---> says exactly what it means, no double meaning, no roundabout expressions,

  • & VIGOROUS ---> has power and enshrines words with an ocean of deeper meaning

This is Baha'u'llah!

"Tell me and I'll forget. Show me and I'll remember. Involve me and I'll understand."- Confucius

This is exactly what His (Baha'u'llah's) words do... if only we open our heart and mind and wish to hear!

Many attempts to communicate are nullified by saying too much...
THEREFORE,
END OF THIS POST!

Practicing Math is like trying to know God!

Let's talk about Math baby!

I want to be a mathematician in my life... knowing the problem and excercize untill the solution is find!

“As long as man does not find his own faults he can never became
perfect.
Nothing is more fruitful for man than the knowledge of his own
shortcomings.
The Blessed Perfection says: I wonder at the man who does
not find his own imperfections."

When at school, I was told that mathematic is important and will always be present in my life, well.. I thought that couldn’t be.. as soon as I would have left school and stop exercize, math would just vanish... I liked it, but couldn’t really grasp its mysteries... it was like trying to know God... impossible!
But at least we are given the opportunity to try... and for sure trying to know ourself, our potentialities and develop them, we come to know a bit about God, as we are all made in His immage in our spiritual essence.

To master mathematic, one has to keep on a systematic pattern, which I couldn’t, for I’ve changed several schools and teachers; changing the studying method and being told I wasen’t good at it, I just tried to keep my head above water, but indeed there’s a key to success: stystematicity in the strugle!
How is one supposed to be good at something without putting a constant effort in it?
Moreover, when we are told not to be ment for something, we have to bare in mind that it’s all a matter of being systematic in the practice, and that we are rich in gems. I’ve heard somewhere that a genius is 99% of hard work and 1% of talent... since we are all full of talents, in different fields, we should just find out what are the gifts we own and then work hard on them!
As Baha'u'llah says:

“Regard Man as a Mine rich in gems of enestimable value. Education can alone
cause it to reveal its treasures, and enable mankind to benefit therefrom.”

Of course we need a good Educator to train us... but then the fun of the effort is all our!
Limits exist in math... not in a process of learning and developing!

Wish you all a lot of exercize!

I'm not an Astronomer, I'm a Star-Catcher!

Hello world!

I'd like to start this blog with a THANK YOU and dedicate it to all the people that see in me more than I show, more than I have realized!
So, this is also for all those, that as my friends, look into someone else eyes and see the potentiality their souls still hide!
Friends are treasures, friends are gifts, angels...
my friends are pure-joy-promoter!

Talking about friendship, there's an ispiring quote I'd like to share:

"Do not be content with showing friendship in words alone, let your heart burn with loving kindness for all who may cross your path."
(Abdu'l-Baha, Paris Talks, p. 15)

It urges me to smile and say hello to everyone I meet in the street, on the bus, at the market!
If someone asks me: "do you know this person?" or
"why do you greet people you don't know?"....
My reply is: "how could I pretend I haven't seen him/her??"
When we rise our gaze to look into people's eyes, when we encounter someone and say goodmorning or hi, we are doing more than noticing their presence! I SEE YOU!!
A star-gazer would be content with this, but we are creating a connection in that same moment... how deep we wish to go into it... well, it's up to us!
Still, we have an amazing opportunity, realizing an other world has just pass close to our orbit and trying to catch a gimpse of it's beauty!

What if, instead of being star-gazers, we try to become star-catchers?
